We are currently searching for a Staff Veterinarian to add to our world-class team.
Job Details:
At Hord Family Farms, the Staff Veterinarian serves as a key adviser to the production leadership team, assisting with the guidance of production operations. This includes utilizing a broad set of technical skills as well as robust leadership skills to help design and implement processes and procedures across the organization.
Duties:
- Provide leadership across the production teams for the implementation of health programs by influencing daily decisions of the entire team through education, advice, and constructive feedback
- Lead the development and implementation of bio-security initiatives across the entire production system that employ evidence based approaches to minimize system disease risk, promote food safety, an improve long-term system profitability
- Lead processes and plans to facilitate routine reviews of health programs including vaccine programs, medication use, and other health management strategies
- Develop and implement a risk-based, systematic, evidence-based disease surveillance system
- Develop and implement systematic disease outbreak investigation programs
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align production processes with best management practices
- Provide guidance to research department to help ensure trials, data analysis, and implementation are in alignment with production and nutritional division’s goals
Required Experience and Education:
- A DVM degree with the ability to obtain licenses in both Ohio and Pennsylvania
- Demonstrated training and experience in swine production and medicine above the DVM

- Ability to quickly build credibility and develop effective partnerships with all levels of management across departments
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships across a wide variety of individuals and groups, both internally and externally
- Superior communication skills with an ability to articulate a clear and compelling vision and lead others to implement it
- High level of personal integrity and ethics; respect and care for all animals
- No exposure to pigs or direct contact with individuals caring for pigs that are not Hord Company pigs
