Seaboard Foods is seeking a staff veterinarian to join the production management team for farm operations located in the state of Oklahoma. The position offers a unique opportunity for veterinarians to participate in all areas of production, based on their experience and abilities. The position will report to the Director of Health Assurance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary college. Previous experience in swine production medicine is preferred.
- Need to be licensed in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Colorado.
- The successful candidate is required to maintain PQA Plus advisor status, USDA Accreditation and veterinary licensure in the state(s) of practice.
- The candidate must possess superior listening and interpersonal skills and be self-motivated, hard-working, and a passionate team member focused on producing pork in a cost-competitive environment.
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Word Documents, and PowerPoint) is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Help create, supervise and coordinate the herd health programs to enhance throughput.
- Monitor and implement procedures that will enhance biosecurity to ensure a high health status herd.
- Provide expertise in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of production and health issues in all phases of production.
- Assist in the implementation of production education programs for employees.
- Remain current in all areas of responsibility by establishing a network of industry and academic contacts, studying industry literature, and attending scientific/industry meetings.
- This position is based in Guymon, Oklahoma will have some travel (up to one week per month to other production facilities as needed).
