Plans are well underway for the 120th United States Animal Health Association (USAHA) and 59th American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place October 13-19, 2016 at the Sheraton Hotel in Greensboro, N.C. The event brings together leaders and stakeholders from across the country to address the most pressing issues in livestock and poultry disease, regulations, diagnostics and research in the United States. Registration is open to anyone interested in the mission of USAHA and AAVLD to safeguard the health of the U.S. herds and flocks.
"Program development is moving forward for the multiple committees, scientific and plenary sessions," says Ben Richey, executive director of USAHA. The program includes committee meetings addressing a wide range of topics across multiple species of livestock and poultry. "We are excited to return to Greensboro, and working with our hosts in North Carolina for a great meeting this fall."
The Joint Plenary Session on Monday, October 17 will highlight current issues in animal agriculture, in particular the current economic challenges and the priorities for successful operation in the face of those challenges, and featuring presentations on precision technologies in animal agriculture. Renowned farm broadcaster Max Armstrong will be moderating the session. Additionally, AAVLD is planning to offer plenary presentations on "Precision Diagnostic Medicine: Game Changing Technology…Is Your Lab Ready?" during the Saturday morning, October 15, Plenary Session. Details on both sessions will be forthcoming as they are confirmed. Dr. Boyd Parr, President-Elect for USAHA and Dr. Pat Halbur, President-Elect for AAVLD, are serving as 2016 program co-chairs for USAHA and AAVLD, respectively.
