APC seeks a Technical Services Veterinarian to provide technical advice, guidance and support to promote the sales and application of APC products worldwide across multiple animal production industries. The Technical Services Veterinarian will develop sales opportunities for APC, establish and monitor field studies and maintain satisfaction among established APC clientele. This position is based out of the company headquarters in Ankeny, Iowa, and requires business travel on a regular basis (up to 50%).
Duties
- Work as part of the Technical Services group to insure efficient and timely product implementation strategies, especially as related to biosafety and animal health application needs.
- Work as part of Technical Services and with Sales and Marketing to insure existing and new products are positioned correctly and have adequate sales support materials.
- Work with Sales and Marketing to develop positive APC product experiences with key industry influencers, particularly within the swine and farm animal industries.
- Work with R&D to develop protocols, initiate and coordinate field trials related to new product development and application of existing products.
- Establish, implement and monitor field trials to enable producers to measure and determine the value of APC products in their operations.
- Work with Technical Services and Sales to resolve product application issues related to technical use of products, particularly in design and development of animal health management and biosafety protocols.
- Manage and maintain corporate confidential information as well as customer confidential information.
- Develop and maintain appropriate educational and decision-making tools including PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, brochures, and other materials to allow stakeholders to properly value APC products in the marketplace.
- Provide training and support to APC distributor partners and Sales Managers.
- Attend industry veterinarian and scientific meetings as needed to build customer/prospect awareness and develop/update technical and industry knowledge.
- Deliver public presentations and serve as a company representative at trade shows and other industry veterinarian and scientific meetings.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of Animal Agriculture, with preferred experience within the swine and farm animal industries in general.
- Knowledge of the Veterinary/Feed Industry research principles/requirements and the ability to apply research principles to the technical sales function.
- Knowledge of biosafety protocols used in animal agriculture sector.
- Ability to effectively communicate with sales and marketing staff, research staff, customers, distributors and other business contacts.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical information as well as deliver public presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Ability to comply with work related deadlines.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activities.
- Ability to operate all necessary office equipment required to accomplish job duties such as computers, telephones, fax machines, etc.
- Ability to work daily and extended hours as necessary.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (approximately 50% of the time).
- Ability to assist with special or ongoing projects by working extended hours as assigned.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
- Fluency in Spanish will be positively considered.
- Participate in continuous education offerings to maintain DVM accreditations.
Qualifications
Education: DVM with training in animal nutrition or health physiology.
Fluency in Spanish will be positively considered.
Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of modern production agriculture and animal health management; 3 – 5 years swine experience and background preferred.
