Nominations Open for District Director Positions

Have you ever considered serving the AASV in a governing role? Nominations for the office of AASV District Director are currently being sought in two AASV districts. Nomination cards are being mailed now to all eligible voters in districts #1 (northeastern US) and #7 (western US). Nominations for director in district #4 (Indiana and Michigan) will be mailed in March, after the completion of the Vice President election. Potential candidates must be Active AASV members residing in the district to be represented (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote). Nominations must be returned by mail to arrive in the AASV office by January 16. In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.

In district 1, the current director, Dr. Lynette Holman, has completed a single term and is eligible to serve a second term, if nominated and elected. In district 7, the current director (Dr. Bill DuBois) has served two terms and is not eligible for re-election.

The newly elected district directors will serve a three-year term of office which begins AFTER the conclusion of the 2015 spring Board of Directors meeting scheduled for March 30 in Perry, Iowa.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually to set policies and conduct association business, once in conjunction with the AASV Annual Meeting in March, and again in October. Occasionally, the Board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (Tel: 515-465-5255, E-mail: aasv@aasv.org).
