The College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine at Iowa State University invites nominations and applications for a full-time clinical-track or full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Serology Section of our Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (ISU VDL). Applications for clinical-track will be accepted at the levels of clinician or senior clinician. Applications for tenure-track positions will be accepted at the levels of assistant, associate, or full professor.
The ISU VDL is an AAVLD-accredited, full-service laboratory that serves veterinarians and animal owners of the state of Iowa and across the United States. The caseload is diverse with food animal species representing the majority of submissions. The primary responsibility of this position will be to serve as the section leader of the ISU VDL serology section that consists of a team of approximately 15 staff members. This position will be directly responsible for coordinating all serology cases submitted to the ISU VDL and deliver comprehensive diagnostic case information in a concise and well-organized manner on a 12 month, year round basis to practicing veterinarians and other animal health professionals.
The successful applicant will be expected to effectively coordinate the web submissions to the ISU VDL, manage communications associated with export cases, serve as the direct point of contact for a number of ISU VDL’s clientele, and provide supervision to the receiving and accessioning processes. The ability to interact, communicate and collaborate with progressive practicing veterinarians and other stakeholders in animal agriculture is essential. The person in this position will be expected to engage in discovery through applied research that directly benefits the food animal industry. Opportunities exist for the person in this position to provide clinical instruction to veterinary students.
