Nominations Due January 17 for AASV District Director Positions

Have you ever considered serving the AASV in a governing role? Nominations for the office of AASV District Director are currently being sought in four AASV districts. Nomination cards are being mailed to all eligible voters in districts 2 (southeastern USA), 5 (Illinois and Wisconsin), 9 (Minnesota and North Dakota), and 11 (Canada). Potential candidates must be Active AASV members residing in the district to be represented (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote). Nominations must be returned by mail to arrive in the AASV office by January 17. In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.

In district 9, the current director, Dr. Scott Dee, has completed a single term and is eligible to serve a second term, if nominated and elected. In districts 2, 5, and 11, the current directors (Drs. Matthew Turner, Doug Groth, and George Charbonneau, respectively) are not eligible for re-election.

The newly elected district directors will begin a three-year term of office at the conclusion of the 2014 spring Board of Directors meeting in Dallas.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually to set policies and conduct association business, once in conjunction with the AASV Annual Meeting in March, and again in October. Occasionally, the Board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (Tel: 515-465-5255, E-mail: aasv@aasv.org).
