- As a result of the government shutdown, the National Animal Health Laboratory Network was unable to coordinate the PEDv case information this week. In the interest of maintaining the reporting, the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab at the University of Minnesota agreed to compile the information this week and the diagnostic labs at ISU, KSU and SDSU supported this effort by providing their case accession information to Minnesota for publication. We want to thank all the labs that pulled together to make this happen. This week’s case report data has been posted to the AASV PEDv web page.
- The national Pork Board has published two documents providing recommendations to minimize the risk of disease spread at swine shows and exhibitions. One document targets swine exhibitors and the other targets the organizers of swine exhibitions. Both documents are posted on the AASV PEDv web page. Although they are not specific for PEDv, the recommendations are certainly pertinent when considering the potential spread of the virus during exhibitions.
