2013 AASV Foundation Auction a Tremendous Success!

The AASV Foundation held its annual fund-raising auction on Monday night March 4 at the AASV Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA. The lively auction raised a record amount totaling $139,021! This tremendous effort eclipsed the $100,000 goal set by the auction committee resulting in the Foundation receiving an additional $100,000 through the incredible generosity of MVP Laboratories and MJ Biologics bringing the grand total to $239,021! The money raised supports Foundation programs including student travel stipends, research projects, scholarships, student externships, summer internships, awards and other opportunities to enhance the personal and professional aspects of swine veterinary medicine. This year’s auction brings the Foundation ever-closer to its ultimate goal of $1 million.

Auctioneer, and AASV Executive Director, Dr. Tom Burkgren called the auction with the assistance of Dr. Jess Waddell and veterinary student Shamus Brown (ISU). This year’s auction also included a raffle in which participants purchased tickets for a chance to win one of four fabulous prizes. The raffle netted $23,800 for the Foundation.

The auction was a great success and fun was had by all. The Foundation wishes to thank all those that participated in the auction by bidding on items and the auction committee chaired by Dr. Daryl Olsen. A special thanks goes out to all those that donated items to the auction. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next year.
