Merck Animal Health seeks a Technical Services Manager-Swine, based in Guelph, Ontario.

Reporting to the Business Manager, Integrated Livestock Business Unit, the Technical Services Manager is the veterinarian responsible for providing technical support to the Merck Animal Health swine team, veterinarians and customers for Merck Animal Health Swine products, with a strong emphasis on vaccines and fertility products.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Responsible for all Merck Animal Health swine products, inquiries, training and technical information;
- Provides medical and scientific information about Merck Animal Health swine products as requested by all veterinarians, swine customers (producers & integrated swine companies) and Merck Animal Health management;
- Participates in technical training programs, suggests content, topics and makes the proper contribution as coordinated between other Technical Services Veterinarians and the Business Manager;
- Liaises with other Technical Services Veterinarians, Business Manager and Merck Animal Health Global swine department concerning regional and international issues. Provides thoughtful input and ideas for improving the success of the region.
- Travels on client calls with and without field representatives on a regular basis to support the Integrated Livestock team with responsibilities mainly for Quebec however some support for all of Canada will be required;
- Participates in Regional, National, Cycle, New Product, Brand Review and various other Animal Health meetings throughout the year.
The Technical Services Manager works closely with other Technical Services Managers in Canada and the US, as well as the Marketing department and Regional Sales managers to maximize the Merck Animal Health products’ full potential.
The Swine Technical Services Manager will spend approximately 65% of the time working in the province of Ontario and 35% of the time traveling outside of the province. The incumbent should be located in Ontario.
Qualifications
- Degree in veterinary medicine, with veterinary license in Canada
- Previous veterinary practice (private or industry) in Canada with emphasis in swine medicine would be an asset, as would prior experience with customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written in English)
- Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate others
- Strong customer focus and collaboration skills
- Ability to think and act strategically
- Ability to understand and integrate scientific concepts
- Ability to plan, organize and execute high quality work
- Results driven and perseverant,
- Knowledge of office technology and related software
- Performs with a high level of business integrity and professionalism
- Willing to travel across Canada, to the USA and potentially international meetings
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Language: English (French is an asset)
