The room block for the AASV Annual Meeting at the Manchester Grand Hyatt is open and AASV meeting attendees are encouraged to reserve lodging rooms as soon as possible. The conference will be held March 2-5 in San Diego, California. Lodging details are online at aasv.org/annmtg/2013/lodging.htm. Registration for the conference itself will open in late December, but the scientific program is online now at aasv.org/annmtg.
Under the direction of president-elect and program chair Dr. Matt Anderson, the AASV Program Committee focused on the theme "Purpose-Inspired Practice" to assemble the presentations for the conference. Monday morning’s (March 4) general session features Dr. Craig Rowles presenting the Howard Dunne Memorial Lecture, entitled "Perspective, passion, and the purpose-inspired practice," followed by Dr. John Waddell delivering the Alex Hogg Memorial Lecture, "Mentoring with purpose." Drs. Mike Apley, Scott Hurd and Jim Roth will address antibiotic use and foreign animal disease concerns to complete the general session. On Monday afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to choose from three concurrent sessions: PRRSV, Swine Influenza Virus, and Infectious Disease. On Tuesday (March 5), the focus will be on "The Shaping of Purpose," as meeting attendees learn from the experiences and insight of Drs. Guy Loneragan, Howard Hill, and Tim Loula in addition to Monday’s keynote presenters Drs. Rowles and Waddell.
As in the past, the meeting offers a number of pre-conference seminars during the weekend, as well as the Student and Industrial Partners sessions on Sunday afternoon.
