Position Announcement: PIC Health Assurance Veterinarian

PIC seeks a Health Assurance Veterinarian. The successful candidate will have exceptional opportunities through participation in the implementation and maintenance of the PIC Health Assurance Program.

Director of Health Assurance

POSITION LOCATION:

Preferably Hendersonville, Tenn; remote can be an option

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum three years experience in swine medicine and production desired
  • Familiarity with computers, spreadsheets, databases and production records
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
  • An understanding of pork production systems and how to improve them
  • Ability to work with large pork producers
  • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Team player

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide health services to Genus/PIC multiplication and PIC customers including but not limited to:
  1. Oversee and monitor the health program for PIC’s contract multiplication
  2. Provide all health status information concerning product sources to customers in a timely manner
  3. Establish effective professional relationships with customers’ veterinarians and key production personnel to enable PIC account plan objectives
  4. Interface with Technical Services, Sales and Supply Chain on issues concerning product sources and other health related issues
  5. Perform health and biosecurity audits of the PIC multiplication pyramid and customers’ systems
  6. Make specific best-practice recommendations to customers that will maximize genetic potential of PIC products within customer’s system/herd
  7. Provide routine reports and data to the PIC HA database system
  8. Provide welfare assessments to PIC multiplication and customers as needed
  • Organize and participate in meetings with customers, and customer veterinarians
  • Remain current in area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry & academic contacts, studying literature and attending scientific/industry meetings
  • Assist in applied research and development of novel health technologies
  • Hold confidential all product and program proprietary knowledge
