Nominations Open for AASV District Director in Districts 1, 4, and 7

Have you ever considered serving the AASV in a governing role? If you are an AASV veterinarian in Districts 1 (Northeastern US), 4 (Indiana and Michigan), or 7 (Western US), take note! Nomination cards have been mailed to all eligible voters in these districts for the office of AASV District Director. Potential candidates must be Active AASV members residing in the district to be represented (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote). In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.

In district 7, the current director, Dr. Bill DuBois, has completed a single term and is eligible to serve a second term, if nominated and elected. In districts 1 and 4, Drs. Bill Minton and John Baker have each served two terms and are not eligible for re-election.

The newly elected district directors will begin a three-year term of office at the conclusion of the 2012 spring Board of Directors meeting in Denver.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually to set policies and conduct association business, once in conjunction with the AASV annual meeting in March, and again in October. Occasionally, the Board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (Tel: 515-465-5255, E-mail: aasv@aasv.org).
