$75,000 Annual Advancement in PRRS Research Award – Submission Deadline is January 1, 2012

Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) education and research has increased over the past 10 years, yet there is still more to be learned about this profit robbing disease.

In keeping with its annual commitment to the advancement of research and understanding for PRRS control, Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) is announcing a call for proposal submissions for its annual Advancement in PRRS Research Award. A total amount of $75,000 will be awarded to study PRRS in an effort to control its impact. Proposal submissions are due January 1, 2012.

BIVI will provide three U.S. $25,000 awards to researchers with the winning proposals to conduct a yearlong study that will further the field applicable knowledge about PRRS.

The Advancement in PRRS Research Awards will be presented in March 2012 at the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) Annual Conference, which is being held in Denver, Colorado.

Eligible participants include: students, researchers, diagnosticians, animal scientists, practitioners and production veterinarians.

Eligibility participation includes anyone in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Objective: Examine practical methods of controlling, managing, and possibly eradicating the PRRS virus.
