Position Announcement: Production Veterinarian

Premium Standard Farms is seeking a Production Veterinarian for our farms operation based in Princeton, Missouri. The Production Veterinarian is responsible for monitoring herd health, identifying clinical signs of disease and creating and implementing appropriate herd health strategies. This individual is also responsible for developing and auditing biosecurity practices and procedures and coordinating farm staff to achieve goals of maintenance of herd health. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Interact and participate with management at all levels
  • Budget items related to veterinary medicine
  • Conduct necropsy examinations and other testing including serology
  • Perform farm visits
  • Educate company personnel on items relating to herd health
  • Act as liaison with processing facility on matters related to food safety
  • Actively participate and maintain relationships in industry groups (AASV, NPB, AVMA, etc.)
  • Understand animal flow through system
  • Implement disease control programs
  • Be involved in all health, genetic and production decisions from a strategic standpoint

Applicants should be a DVM with a minimum of 3 years of experience preferred and an advanced degree preferred. Swine specialty also preferred. Other requirements are attention to detail, confidentiality and the ability to manage multiple projects and to work independently. Strong interpersonal and business communication skills required. Applicants should be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
