PADRAP Newsletter Published

The inaugural issue of the PADRAP semi-annual newsletter has just been published and posted to the AASV website at http://www.aasv.org/public/201103PADRAPNewsletter.pdf.

This issue highlights the ability to produce grow-finish benchmark reports. The Growing Pig Herd portion of PADRAP was released in June 2009 and now has over 400 Grow Finish surveys included in the database – enough to begin benchmarking. The newsletter describes how to run the report.

To date, 296 AASV members have been trained to use PADRAP and submit risk assessment results into the database. A training session was conducted at the AASV’s 42nd Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona during which 18 veterinarians and 1 veterinary student completed training. 2617 assessments have been completed for 1401 breeding herd sites. In addition, 465 assessments have been completed for 441 grow-finish sites.

The newsletter also introduced Chris Mowrer who recently replaced Jamie Melody as the Assistant Program Director for the PADRAP website. If you call the PADRAP office (515-294-8703), Chris will likely be the one to answer the phone. Take a few minutes to read the newsletter and learn a little about her.
