Progressive Livestock Management (PLM) is seeking a Herd Health and Production Veterinarian. PLM is a swine production company with farms throughout Manitoba and in south central Saskatchewan. PLM Group has a base of 35,000 sows and also includes nursery and finisher sites. The successful candidate would have a minimum of 3 years experience in the swine health specialty and would possess good interpersonal, training, management, and presentation skills.
REPORTS TO: President of Progressive Livestock Management
POSITION LOCATION: Niverville, Manitoba
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary college
- Ability and qualifications to secure Licensure in Manitoba and Saskatchewan
- Experience in swine medicine and production
- Familiarity with computers, spreadsheets, databases and production records
- Outstanding one-on-one and group/team communication and organizational skills
- An understanding of modern pork production systems and practical methods for system improvement
- Ability to effectively work within large pork production systems
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide health and production services
- Active participant of PLM Management Team
- Establish effective professional relationships with key production personnel to facilitate health and productivity goals
- Establish effective professional relationships with external suppliers and sources of information to facilitate health and productivity goals
- Provide routine reports and communications
- Provide export inspection services
- Provide CQA Validation services
- Remain current in area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry and academic contacts, studying literature and attending scientific/industry meetings
- Present Health and Productivity reports in regular production meetings
- Hold confidential all product and program proprietary knowledge
