GlobalVetLink (GVL), the innovator and national standard for secure, web-based animal health certification, based in Ames, IA, has an outstanding opportunity for a Product Manager of the swine portion of our web-based application business.
This role at GlobalVetLink requires a professional that is self-starting and highly motivated. The candidate will have a passion for becoming a key team member, and contributing to our national and expanding international technology business. The individual should be highly organized and driven to maximize product success and business results of our growing business.
The Swine Product Manager is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the GlobalVetLink SaaS product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with development, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.
Key responsibilities for this important role include, but are not limited to:
- Define the product strategy and roadmap
- Deliver prioritized features and corresponding justification
- Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products
- Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product
- Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
- Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
- Deliver a monthly revenue forecast
- Develop sales tools and collateral
- Propose and manage to budget to ensure success
- Support and train the sales force
- Be an expert with respect to the competition
- Perform as a key leader within the company
Required experience and knowledge:
- 3 years experience as a Product Manager in a technology-related role preferred
- Demonstrated success defining and launching technology products
- 3+ years of experience in the animal health or related industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree
- Technical background, with current, working knowledge and experience with internet applications
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time
- At least one sample of an effective product management execution from experiences
What you should bring to the table:
- Successful project management and/or software solution company experience
- Animal health and swine industry experience is a plus but not a requirement
- Willingness to apply your unique skills against aggressive goals
- Strong business, financial and operations aptitude
- Thrive in a high-paced environment.
