The overall theme of the congress – Sharing Ideas-Advancing Pig Health – will emphasize three broad subject areas: "Pig Health", "Production & Management", and "Food Safety, Animal Welfare & Social Change". An important objective will be to ensure that the latest scientific information is applied at the field level and therefore we will be continuing to include the "Practitioner’s Line".

It is our goal to create a forum for the sharing of ideas from the leading researchers and industry workers from around the world, so that this knowledge, innovation and enthusiasm will advance the health of pigs and the strength and wealth of the global pig industry. The Congress is offering 18 hours of Continuing Education credits.

Also, for the first time ever, the Congress is inviting runners and walkers to participate in the International Hog Jog to be held on Sunday afternoon. Join old friends and new acquaintances on a 3.5 or 10km planned route through beautiful and scenic Stanley Park of Vancouver famous for its majestic cedar trees, wildlife and collection of monuments.
