NPIF Interns Matched with Mentors for 2010

The AASV Student Recruitment Committee is pleased to announce the selection of mentors to pair with the six veterinary students receiving the AASV Foundation/National Pork Industry Foundation (NPIF) Internship Stipends in 2010.

The NPIF graciously provided funding to support six student interns in 2010. Each intern will spend one full month with a US swine practitioner-mentor in the field this summer. Throughout 2010, the students and their mentors are encouraged to have contact to help the student gain a better understanding of the life of a swine practitioner. Each student will receive a $3300 grant to offset costs involved with their participation in the internship.

The students selected to participate in the 2010 program and their mentors are:

Emily Gordon (Purdue University) and Dr. Paul Armbrecht (Lake City, Iowa),
Michelle Monson (Iowa State University) and Dr. Gene Nemechek (Springdale, Ark),
Lincoln Montgomery-Rodgers (Virginia Maryland Regional CVM) and Dr. Brandon Whitt (Russellville, Ark),
Timothy Krebs (Cornell University) and Dr. Nathan Winkelman (Rice, Minn),
Laurel Wegener (University of Nebraska/Iowa State University) and Dr. Dyneah Augsburger (Carthage, Ill), and
Charlotte Wellen (University of Illinois) and Dr. Scanlon Daniels (Dalhart, Tex).

The AASV would like to thank the practitioners who volunteered to serve as mentors for this program. Their willingness to participate will provide an unforgettable experience for these students.
