Elections for district director are underway in three AASV districts. In addition, balloting is still in progress for the office of AASV Vice President. Members are encouraged to submit their ballots now to ensure they arrive in the AASV office by Friday, February 27.
The Vice President ballots were mailed to eligible voters in January. The candidates are Drs. Scanlon Daniels (Dalhart, Texas) and Randy Jones (Kinston, North Carolina).
Ballots for the District Director positions were mailed the first week in February to members in districts 1 (northeastern US), 4 (Michigan and Indiana) and the new district 7 (created by merging former districts 7 and 10 to combine the southwest and southcentral US into a single district). In district 1, the candidates for AASV district director are Bill Minton (current director, from Chickasaw, Ohio) and Michelle "Mitch" Michalak (Maria Stein, Ohio). Current district 4 director Dr. John Baker (Chandler, Indiana) is running unopposed in his district. In the newly formed district 7, the candidates are William DuBois (Mustang, Oklahoma) and Brett O’Brien (Snowflake, Arizona). The district director ballots are due back in the AASV office by February 27. The election results will be announced during the AASV 2009 Annual Meeting.
