The 2009 Responsible Pork Symposium, Feb. 23-25, to be held in Kansas City, Mo., has been canceled due to the challenging economic conditions facing all U.S. sectors, including the pork chain, according to event organizers.
The first Responsible Pork Symposium was held last February in Indianapolis, with the intent of showcasing the responsible actions that are taking place throughout the pork chain with regard to environmental stewardship, animal care and well-being, food safety and workforce management. The on-going goal was to facilitate face-to-face communication among key influencers from all sectors of the pork chain by creating an event that promotes dialogue on the threats, challenges and opportunities for all parties involved in producing quality U.S. pork.
