It is with sadness that the American Association of Swine Veterinarians learns of the passing of Dr. Charlie Randall from Kinston, NC. Dr. Randall was 93 and passed away on October 3rd. He received his DVM from Kansas State University in 1938 and worked for the State of North Carolina and the Army Veterinary Corp prior to entering private practice in 1954. He practiced for 69 years until his retirement in 2007.
Dr. Randall was an early member of the AASV (then AASP) and served on the Board of Directors from 1977 to 1980. He was very active in the AVMA serving in the House of Delegates from 1965 to 1983. He was AVMA Vice-President for two terms 1983-1985.
Most recently he received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award from NC Governor Mike Easley on May 16th. This award is the highest civilian honor that a citizen of North Carolina can receive.
