USDA has approved Suvaxyn PCV2 vaccine for flexible dosing and for use in pigs as young as three weeks of age. The porcine circovirus type 2 vaccine from Fort Dodge Animal Health has been available since mid-2006.
The vaccine is designed to allow the most appropriate vaccination protocol for specific production systems. The new USDA approval allows vaccination in a single 2-mL dose in pigs three weeks of age or older or in two 1-mL doses, with the first dose at three weeks of age or older and the second dose three weeks later.
