Madsen Completes Term as AVMA Delegate

Dr. David Madsen completed his term as the AASV’s representative in the AVMA House of Delegates (HOD) on July 19th during the association’s annual convention in New Orleans.

Dr. Madsen served in the HOD for 12 years. He was a strong advocate supporting the interests of swine veterinarians in the AVMA. He has been instrumental in reinforcing a science-based approach to issues including antimicrobial usage and swine housing as well as animal welfare in general.

As the numbers of food animal veterinarians continues to decline, vocal, knowledgeable and respected representatives such as Madsen are ever more important to emphasize and explain to our colleagues what we do and why we do it. Please join us in thanking Dr. Madsen for his many years of service.

Thankfully the AASV will be well represented in this capacity for the next few years by Dr. Bill Hollis who has served as the AASV’s alternate delegate to the AMVA HOD. The AASV is now searching for an alternate delegate.
