Recent Humane Society of the United States Internet videos of non-ambulatory cattle demonstrate again the power of the Internet, specifically the growing popularity of YouTube, a site where almost anyone can share videos. The Pork Checkoff is now a player in this new medium.
Pork Checkoff staff has been working diligently the past two years to learn everything about these so-called "social media" vehicles – including blogs, podcasts and video blogs – so the pork industry can tell its story in ways that reach the growing number of people using these new communications tools.
The board has been very supportive of the efforts of Teresa Roof and Traci Rodemeyer to produce videos that allow students and consumers to learn the truth about modern pork production. The Pork Checkoff now has a YouTube channel and has posted three videos. You can help simply by watching them and passing the link on to fellow producers and friends.
These three videos feature experts answering consumer questions on animal-care issues. The Checkoff’s YouTube channel can be found at http://www.youtube.com/PorkCheckoff.
Each of the videos can be found at:

The Checkoff needs your help in spreading the message about these YouTube videos. Please take a few minutes and watch the videos. Each video is less than three minutes long. Then pass them along to your friends, colleagues and contacts. The more people who view these videos and rate them, the higher the videos will appear in the search results. This can be very helpful in telling our story effectively.
