FDA Approves Baytril? for use in Swine

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a New Animal Drug Application submitted by Bayer Animal Health providing for the use of 100mg Baytril® (enrofloxacin) injectable solution in swine. Labeled usage is for the treatment and control of swine respiratory disease associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus parasuis, and Streptococcus suis. The approved dosage is 7.5 mg/kg of body weight once by subcutaneous injection behind the ear. Animals intended for human consumption must not be slaughtered within 5 days of receiving a single-injection dose.
