Concerned about Pharmaceutical Issues? The PI Committee Needs Your Help

The mission of the AASV’s Pharmaceutical Issues committee is to monitor the activities of government and commodity organizations as they relate to matters pertaining to drug availability for swine practitioners and to keep the Association aware of matters associated with drug availability. The committee is also charged with developing educational materials dealing with proper antimicrobial use and works with the National Pork Board to develop and promote the Pork Quality Assurance Program.

For the most part, we review legislation, regulations and prudent use to make recommendations to the Board of Directors, usually through Position Statements. The Japanese MRLs demanded a lot of time and was a large project this committee worked on. This year, education will be our focus to ensure prudent use and protection of our drug availability.

If you’re interested in working with the committee to address issues associated with antimicrobial legislation, regulation and use please contact Ginger Pelger to join the committee.
