Clarification on Canadian Feed Ban

Following an article in last week’s e-Letter concerning the Canadian ban of meat scraps in swine and poultry feed (Canadian Officials to Ban Feeding Table Scraps) I received an email from Dr. Margaret Morrison with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

She wanted to clarify the intent of the proposed regulation and provided the following comment: "ALL meat products were banned in 2001 (including those in table scraps). This final ban prohibits the use of ‘non-approved’ feed (must be on the approved feed list as per our Canadian Feed Regulations).
