Melamine Found in US-manufactured Ingredients

Federal officials announced that a Canadian-owned manufacturing plant in Ohio was using melamine to make binding agents that ended up in pelleted feed for farmed fish, shrimp and livestock.

The manufacturer, Tembec BTSLR, was implicated after a feed distributor, Uniscope, began testing its feed binders for the compound. The FDA reports that the concentrations of melamine in these products was far lower than that found in wheat flour from China.
