Now would be a good time to get an iPod, or any MP3 player, because in Orlando AASV students recorded 17 interviews with presenters during the annual meeting.
Back in October, the AASV Board of Directors approved a plan submitted by the Communications Committee to enlist student members to conduct in-depth interviews of presenters at the annual meeting. The students reviewed the list of program topics and selected a presenter they would like to interview. Then, with the help of their faculty advisor, they developed a list of questions and set up a time to conduct the interview.
Not only did the students receive a stipend for successfully conducting the interview, the program also afforded them the opportunity to learn additional communications skills and interview techniques. In addition, they got to learn a little more about a topic of interest and interact with some influential members of the profession.
The Communications Committee will edit the files and upload them to the AASV website in the near future. These files can then be accessed by members and played on your computer or downloaded and saved on CDs or any other medium such as your new iPod! What better way to spend your time driving down the highway?
