CSF in Bulgaria

Bulgarian officials are confirming an outbreak of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) in Sumen, Bulgaria.

The disease was identified in a 182 head swine herd resulting in 6 clinical cases and 4 deaths. The remaining 178 animals were destroyed. The source of the infection is unknown. Vaccination is prohibited and additional movement controls have been enacted.

The outbreak was confirmed using the direct immunofluorescence test at the National Reference Laboratory for CSF.
