Foot and Mouth Disease in Argentina

An outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) involving 70 head of cattle in San Luis del Palmar, province of Corrientes, Argentina was reported to OIE on February 8, 2006. The virus has been identified as subtype O. Control measures including routine quarantine and movement restrictions, as well as vaccination and stamping out are being implemented. The last reported outbreak of FMD in Argentina was in August, 2003.
