Position Announcement: Quality Assurance Veterinarian

Tyson Fresh Meats in Rogers, Arkansas, seeks a Quality Assurance Veterinarian. This position is responsible for ensuring that the quality of the product reaching the customer meets specifications. This requires involvement in the verification of success at the customer location, the analysis of opportunities for improvement and process of change to meet demands. This position will manage day-to-day quality assurance functions in multiple facilities including geographic region, customer base and product group and be a liaison between production and sales. This requires handling quality related customer complaints and product rejects, ensuring all Pork Group customers and governmental quality regulations are followed, documented and modified when necessary. This will include consistently recording customer contacts and clearly communicating success, failure and other discoveries to the relevant department heads. Other duties include development of quality assurance and inspection programs, policies and procedures and ensuring that products comply with specifications. This position will interact with and train company personnel, internal and external customers and their agents as well as conduct farm assessments and evaluations. Also, this position will be directly involved with ensuring quality relative to product changes or process changes, and will visit the customer’s location or farm routinely.

REQUIREMENTS
Areas of Specialization/Expertise: May require, but not limited to one of the following: Knowledge of regulatory issues, shipping product documentation and procedures, teaching and training of team members, basic swine production and/or animal husbandry. Knowledge of diseases and disorders in the swine species is preferred.

Education: Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of colleges resulting in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is highly preferred for this position.

Experience: From 3 to 5 years of experience preferred. Prefer experience in diagnosis and treatment of conditions and diseases detrimental to the welfare of swine.

Computer Skills: Requires basic computer skills. For example, generating simple letters, spreadsheets, and creating simple queries.

Travel: 12 or more domestic trips per year.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no responsibilities for managing other personnel.
