The pathogenesis and immune response of pigs infected with porcine reproductiveand respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) are not completely understood. PRRSV,along with equine viral arteritis (EAV), lactate dehydrogenase elevatingvirus of mice (LDV), and simian hemorrhagic fever virus (SHFV), are membersof the genus Arteriviridae. This review summarizes the similaritiesand the differences found in the pathogenesis and immune response of nonporcineand porcine arteriviruses.
