For the second year, the U.S Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is inviting partners to collaborate on the development of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) dashboards. These dashboards provide stakeholders with critical data to address AMR, a growing global health threat. APHIS will provide up to $3 million dollars for these efforts in 2024.

New Informative Tool for Swine Veterinarians, Producers and Stakeholders
The Swine Disease Reporting System is introducing the SDRS PRRSV BLAST tool, a one-of-a-kind implementation of a Basic Local Alignment Search Tool specific to the PRRSV ORF5 sequences. The tool’s focus is to help answer spatiotemporal questions regarding query sequences and detect any new sequences entering the SDRS database.

Dr. Brent Pepin recently joined the National Pork Board as a Director of Swine Health. In this role, he will collaborate on work with US SHIP and projects related to foreign and endemic diseases.
