PLIT Offers Webinar on Employee Use of Social Media

The AVMA PLIT has announced a complimentary webinar session on Thursday, December 8 at 10:00 AM CST, which will explore the employment practices liability risks involved with social media use. The webinar will feature speaker Laura R. Lapidus, Esq., the EPL Risk Control Consulting Director at CNA Insurance.
In recent years, social networking websites like Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and Twitter have exploded in popularity. Many individuals using social networking websites are employees, and their employer could be held liable for content (related to the veterinary practice) posted on personal social networking pages. This seminar is to help veterinary practice owners and managers stay current on the evolving risks that exist in the virtual world. Completion of the webinar will help attendees to identify social media issues and to understand recent legal developments related to controlling social media activities. Laura Lapidus will also provide policies and practices that can assist employers to manage social media exposures and to prevent or reduce employment-related problems.
