COVID-19 and the AASV Annual Meeting

UPDATE: COVID Exposure – If you attended the AASV Annual Meeting February 26–March 1, you might have been exposed to COVID-19. AASV has been informed of positive cases in attendees. CDC recommendations for those exposed vary based on whether you are up to date with COVID vaccinations, or ever had COVID-19 before. You should monitor yourself for symptoms of COVID-19, get tested, and isolate away from others if you get symptoms or test positive.

*************************

The health and wellbeing of all meeting attendees is a top priority for AASV. We are committed to providing an environment that is as safe as possible and in compliance with all applicable CDC, state, and local requirements and recommendations.

As recommended by public health officials, the AASV expects attendees to be fully vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2. If you are medically unable to be vaccinated, you should receive a negative COVID test within 48 hours of attending the annual meeting. The AASV is a science-based organization with a select membership of health professionals. While we will not be checking the attendees’ vaccination status or test results, we have confidence that our members and attendees will honor this request.

On February 25, 2022, the CDC updated prevention recommendations, including masking, based on the new tool COVID-19 Community Levels. As of February 26, 2022, the Marion County, Indiana, Community Level is "medium." View the CDC’s current guidance and precautions here.

We are counting on each attendee to be accountable for everyone’s health. Please do not attend the annual meeting if you experience signs or symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

If you experience any signs or symptoms consistent with COVID-19 during the annual meeting, please refrain from participating in any sessions or events and notify AASV staff by e-mailing covid@aasv.org.

Due to cost, staffing, and hotel contract obligations, a virtual attendance option for the meeting is not available at this time. As in the past, some presentations, including the Monday general session, will be recorded and made available for AASV members to view after the meeting.
